What the Town of Indialantic beach parking permit costs, where it applies, how to buy one at Town Hall, and how to pay by the hour without one.
Yes, if you want to skip paying by the hour. The Town of Indialantic sells an annual beach parking permit for $50 per calendar year, or $40 if it is issued June 1 or later. It covers designated spaces on Wave Crest Avenue, Watson Drive, Tampa Avenue, Sixth Avenue, and James H. Nance Park. Without a permit, you pay through the town's parking app.

Beach parking comes up in almost every conversation I have with buyers looking at Indialantic real estate. People want to know how the beach fits into the week once they own a home here, and parking is a big part of that, especially for a home across A1A or on the river side of town. Here is how the town's pass works, what it costs, where it applies, and what it does not cover, with links to the official pages so you can check the current rules yourself.
An annual permit costs $50 for the calendar year, and the price drops to $40 for permits issued June 1 or later. Every permit runs January 1 through December 31, no matter which month you buy it.
That means a permit bought in November still expires December 31, so if you are new to town late in the year, it may make sense to wait for the new calendar year. The Town of Indialantic lists the cost, the terms, and the purchase steps on its Parking Permits and Tickets page.
| Item | What the town lists |
|---|---|
| Permit issued before June 1 | $50, valid through December 31 |
| Permit issued June 1 or later | $40, valid through December 31 |
| Where to buy | In person at Town Hall, 216 Fifth Avenue |
| Payment | Cash, check, or card (card adds a processing fee) |
| Hourly rate without a permit at Nance Park | $3.50 per hour, every day including holidays |
The permit lets you park in the designated spaces on Wave Crest Avenue, Watson Drive, Tampa Avenue, Sixth Avenue, and in James H. Nance Park without buying time through the parking app. Those are the locations the town names on its permit page.
Nance Park, at 201 North Miramar Avenue next to the Fifth Avenue boardwalk, is the town's main ocean park. The town's parks page lists 100 paved spaces there (96 metered and 4 accessible), plus restrooms, outdoor showers, pavilions, two sand volleyball courts, a boardwalk, dune crossovers, and a playground. Sunrise Park, a little to the north, has 25 paved spaces with 23 metered. Sunrise Park is not on the permit's list of locations, so check with Town Hall before you assume the sticker covers it.
Go to Indialantic Town Hall at 216 Fifth Avenue in person and bring a current registration for the vehicle. The town says the registration is required with no exceptions.
Each permit is issued to one registered vehicle and cannot be moved to another car. If your household has two cars that both go to the beach, plan on two permits. Town Hall's phone number is (321) 723-2242 if you want to confirm hours before you go.
The town's permit page does not list residency as a requirement. What it does require is a current vehicle registration presented at purchase, and the permit is tied to that one vehicle.
Rules can change, so if residency matters for your plans, call Town Hall and ask. That is the same advice I give buyers on every beachside town, because Indialantic, Melbourne Beach, Satellite Beach, Indian Harbour Beach, and the county parks each run parking differently.
Pay by the hour through the Passport Parking app or online at passportparking.com. The Nance Park pavilion rental agreement lists the metered rate at $3.50 per hour, and the meters run every day, including holidays.
The town launched Passport as its cashless option in 2022, according to Passport's announcement. You enter the zone number and space number from the signs or meter decals, choose your time, and the app can remind you before the session runs out. Enforcement checks app payments on handheld devices, so the meter itself will not show your time. The rate comes from the town's Nance Park pavilion rental agreement; confirm the posted rate at the lot, since fees can change.
No. The town states that the permit does not exempt a vehicle from any other parking rule. Posted restrictions and permitted parking hours still apply to permit holders.
Nance Park is open 6:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., according to the rental agreement, and vehicles are not allowed on the grass. Read the signs at each lot, because a permit does not make a no parking zone or an after hours space legal.
You can pay the ticket by mail, in person at Town Hall, or online. If you do not respond within 30 calendar days, the town mails a delinquency notice to the registered owner and the fine doubles.
The town lists these increases: a $50 fine becomes $100, a $60 fine becomes $120, and a $125 fine becomes $250, and unpaid citations can go to collection. To contest a ticket, bring the citation to Town Hall within 10 days to request a hearing before a county judge. Under Section 316.1967, Florida Statutes, asking for a hearing waives the option to just pay the fine, and the judge may impose a fine of up to $100 plus court costs.
Yes. Brevard County lists free parking at Howard E. Futch Memorial Park at Paradise Beach, 2301 North Highway A1A in Melbourne, just north of Indialantic.
The county's park page lists restrooms, outdoor showers, pavilions, volleyball courts, a playground, three dune crossovers (one accessible), and seasonal lifeguards. The county notes the lots stay open to the public and cannot be reserved, so they can fill up on busy beach days. It is a useful backup if the Indialantic lots are full or you would rather not pay.
For many buyers, it is one of the most practical parts of living in Brevard on the beachside. The question to ask is how you will reach the sand on a normal morning, and what it costs over a year.
From my work with buyers and sellers on the Space Coast, I see people fall in love with a house a few blocks from the ocean and never test the trip. Oceanfront condos usually have their own beach access and parking rules set by the association, while a home west of A1A or on the river side of town may rely on the public lots. I suggest buyers walk or drive the route they would use, look at which permit street or park is closest, and read any condo or HOA rules on guest parking. My beach access and parking guide covers how to check access rights before you buy, and you can browse Indialantic oceanfront homes, Indialantic condos, or the moving to Indialantic guide for more on daily life here.
